Steve's head snaps up to look at the man who's stepped into view, tensing and ready to take the dagger from his shoulder to fight off anyone who was going to attack him. Injury didn't mean he was an easy target, not by a long shot.

Yet, seeing Bucky's face made him relax for a split second before his mind registered the differences in this Bucky and the one he was used to here. His body snapped back to ready like a rubber band, not ready to attack, but ready to be attacked if it happened. He wasn't going to fight Bucky, he wouldn't, but if Bucky attacked him, well-

The comment causes Steve to make an amused noise before he could think to stop it. He didn't even see it coming, but there it was.

"Was the dagger in my shoulder a giveaway?" His tone is dry, maybe a little incredulous, but definitely amused, because that's the most obvious statement ever, causing Steve to relax minutely by the absurdity of the situation. It sends a shock of painful familiarity through him, but he keeps it deeply hidden from view.

He has to bite his tongue from asking if Bucky remembers him or what he remembers, instead needing to see this. See what happens now.
