She watches him consider her offer, her eyes glancing back and forth between his face and his metal arm. She has so many questions and they burn to be asked, but she knows this is not the time. If this man was going to be open to them at any point in time at all, now was definitely not it.

Then it's her turn to consider. It's a terrible way to have to think, and she hates doing it, but he wants her down first for a reason- to prevent her from cutting him off. Something cold touches her heart. It's not unreasonable to fear that he would do the same to her, but that kind of thinking isn't something she will allow herself.
