Kieren scoffed. "Let's see, I was just kidnapped, dropped into an arena, and told that I have to fight a bunch of people to the death if I don't want to be killed myself. No I'm not all right!"

He couldn't see how anyone could even be in the ball park of all right. Of course, there was the fact that he was physically...well, dead, and he realized he probably did look pretty horrible, especially to someone who wasn't aware of that fact. Not that he was going to tell this guy that when he didn't know already, not when this guy would likely welcome anything that could make him feel comfortable killing a stranger.
