Rhodey has spent a long, long time learning all the intricacies of Tony Stark. And, after half a lifetime at it, he thinks he's pretty safe saying he's very good at it. But this? This is maybe throwing him off a little bit.
He follows Tony into the back of the gift shop (far enough back that no one would spot them at a searching glace, but close enough to keep an eye on the windows and doors in case anyone decided to barge in). He raises an eyebrow. "Don't take death too seriously?" He repeats, incredulous. Because Tony has said a lot of stupid things over the years, but this is so far beyond stupid, it's worrying.
Especially after how he'd be acting during the whole Vanko thing.
"Tony, we're in a fight to the death." You know, in case he had forgotten. "If there's anything to take too seriously, I'd think that would be it." Not that Rhodey was planning on participating in the whole fight-to-the-death thing, but there's no sense denying their current circumstances.
