Euphrasie Fauchelevant-Pontmercy, known as Cosette to all who knew her, stretched out her arms as she settled into bed. Across the room from her in the other nearby twin bed was her husband, Marius Pontmercy, close friend and loose associate of the so-called Les Amis de L'ABC, yawned and tugged the blankets up to his chin. Cosette could hardly believe they were married! It seemed like the past ten hours had been a dream. Luckily for them both, it was not a dream at all! But they were both so exhausted from all the formality and festivities that they could scarcely keep their eyes open. So, with little fanfare, the pair blew kisses at each other and snuggled in to sleep.
