Age Meme

~Age Change Meme~

1. Your character has been brought back/drank some magic potion/awoken as a different age!
2. Are they younger? Older? Tiny? Ancient? Can they remember everything before, have they forgotten completely, or are they in some foggy in-between? What are they like now if any different at all?
3. Post with your characters! Add prompts or just simply talk about them!
4. Pictures can be thrown in too if there are any at all!
5. Tag each other and thread things out! Did you ever want to see if someone was a bratt when they were young or if they ever matured? Now you can!
6. Have fun!

The expression on his face is difficult for Brainiac to read but the tears in Jules' eyes make his distress clear.

It causes a strange prickling sensation in Brainiac's chest and he becomes acutely aware of the fact that they've all been kidnapped for a death match.

His tone is minutely less harsh as he says haughtily, "If you are, you shouldn't feel bad over it." He avoids Jules' eyes by looking at his tablet. "To me, all humans are stupid. Compared to me, even the rest of my people are stupid. So you're no different than anyone else in that regard. It's a matter of scale and it's not your fault you're human."

"...that's not what the other kids say." He can hear them talking--with their childlike simplicity and cruelty, they don't think that he understands. But he does.

And he does feel ashamed. He's a disappointment to his teachers, but worse, his parents.

"We're all a slave to genetics. It doesn't matter if it makes it so you're smart or so you're stupid. People will still hate you if you're different because they're vicious, small-minded petty things."

He actually looked up from his tablet now, trying to catch Julian's eyes.

"I'm smarter than them all and they hate me for it. So you see? It doesn't matter how smart you are - people will always find some stupid reason to despise you even if you're better than they are - especially if you're better than they are. You should just ignore them. That's what I do, I just ignore everyone and focus on my work."

"...isn't that lonely?" Jules knows he'd love desperately to have friends, there's a couple of other children that tolerate him, but they don't enjoy playing with him.

"I have Kukalaka, but no one else likes to play with me."

"It's not lonely," Brainiac insists somewhat defensively. "My work is enough. Why would I need anyone's inane nattering?"

He doesn't know what a Kukalaka is but he assumes it's a pet or something like it.

"I don't play but if you want, I suppose you can stay near me. If I'm talking to you no one else will bother me and you're far more tolerable than some would be."

He's a child and a dumb one, in Brainiac's eyes, but there's a part of him that perceives Julian's innocence and he finds the idea of a child like Julian being stuck in a death match...troubling. He isn't even smart enough to know what's going on, not really.

Words are going over Jules' head, there, but he gets the gist of it. He's always been fairly sensitive, after all.

"I can be quiet." He rather often is, actually. It's hard for him to interact with his peers since he either can't hold a conversation on the same level, or they don't have the patience to deal with him. Sometimes both, and more.

And no, he has absolutely no idea what is going on. Not in the least. And it's quite possible he wouldn't understand it even if explained to him.
