The Return of the District Suite Meme

Basically, this meme is to figure out what it's like living with each other if our characters don't have CR already! Go below to your District thread and post what it's like living with your character. Do they leave their dirty dishes in the bathroom? Hit their snooze button eighteen times each morning? Steal food out of the fridge? Sexile people out of the living room? Leave passive-aggressive notes? Arrange "talking pillow" circles whenever someone forgets to say thank you?

Post it here!

Clementine

[personal profile] smarterthanthem 2014-06-17 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Her worst habit is hoarding food (and other supplies(. Ever find food in an unexpected place? Find that thing you really, really wanted to eat in the fridge has vanished? Clem probably stowed it somewhere in case of impending destruction of civilisation. Instincts to gather and carry food because who knows when you'll find more is hard to shake off.

Secondly she has a tendency to 'ghost' in and out of the suite. Like suddenly she'll be there and you'll have no idea where she came from and if you startle she'll look at you like 'what?'. You'll also probably find her up at odd hours from being unable to sleep the whole night through, she also won't sleep unless she knows someone else generally trustworthy is in the apartment to keep watch.

Otherwise Clem is a pretty okay roommate! She cleans up after herself, is generally friendly and willing to talk, she can be a little morbid but has a snarky sense of humour to accompany it.

And don't touch her hat, swear to God, you guys >:|

So, Punchy's up late a lot, and even though he's socially clueless he's actually good at picking up on trauma, so he probably leaves food out for her to stash and tries to make sure she knows he can hold down the fort while she gets some rest.

Aww Punchy! That's super cool of him. Clem might awkward when she catches on he's doing it purposefully but will be grateful for everything.

She also probably won't mind his music and noise so much as it reminds that someone else is around.

Punchy

[personal profile] nunpunching 2014-06-17 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Punchy tends to create a sonic onslaught, because he likes to play wall-shaking hip hop music at literally any hour at the night. He's been doing this more and more lately because he's been hiding in his room a lot. He also only sleeps four hours a night and can do so while the music keeps playing, so there's really never a guarantee you'll get away from it. He also locks his door, so you can't just destroy his super awesome sound system.

When he isn't listening to music in his room, he drums on tabletops and beatboxes. He's basically always noisy. His voice is loud and he'll yell down the hallway at someone to talk to them rather than actually getting up and using his indoor voice.

Punchy's one of those people who just...take up space. He leaves his shoes in front of the front door for people to trip on. He throws his jacket on the back of the chair. He props his feet up on the table and tracks mud through the hall. Like a snail, he leaves a trail behind him, it's just of sugar and hair gel flakes instead of slime. Ever since he was Avoxed he's been muchmore mindful of causing messes and tries to do the dishes and clean up after himself, but he doesn't really 'see' dirt and thus still tends to leave destruction and clutter in his wake.

He's also super friendly and bear hugs his roommates, whether they want it or not. He's like a puppy in that if he's in the living room, the instant you get home he's up in your face asking you how your day went.

He eats your food. He does not read labels. Thankfully his preferences are mostly soda and candy with the occasional hot pocket. He hasn't eaten nutrition since 1998.

If you are a lady, he macks on you. Constantly. Even if you tell him no he'll keep at it, not necessarily in a creepy way but in the way that makes it seem like he has no concept of personal space or of social boundaries. Because he doesn't.

I'm so sorry, District 6.

If/when Clara finds out about Punchy's eating habits, she might try to drag him up to D10 for dinner to try to feed him something that isn't processed. She's a mom, she has ways.

I'm now picturing Punchy going in for bear hugs with Guy and Guy always bear hugging him back and lifting him off the ground.

Guy Crood

[personal profile] acroodawakening 2014-06-18 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
Guy is not the worst room-mate you could have, though he has his odd quirks.

- No concept of food belonging to any individual person and an inability to read "don't eat this, belongs to _____" notes mean that all your food is his, sorry. If it's in a place where food is it's the communal food and he still can't read yet so he just rips the weird bit of paper with scribbles off. On the upside this means if he ever has any food he never considers it just his and tends to put any leftover treats he got in a place where people will see it because he thinks food is meant for sharing. He also will leave something alone if someone asks him directly but he doesn't get why because food is for sharing wtf.

- Sometimes fucks up the programming on the microwave by random button-pushing. Sorry.

- Sometimes fucks up the entire microwave by experimentally putting things in it that shouldn't go in a microwave, so that there are times there is temporarily no microwave while it's being replaced. Sorry.

- Only bathes about once a week? Two or three times if he's doing something sweaty like running around doing training stuff. This is a compromise with people's modern sensibilities because he's used to going waaaay way longer. He doesn't entirely reek but there is usually a strong scent of dude musk if you get too close, though it's offset by the fact he finds good smelling things to mix in with it. By now I think he's discovered incense and smokes out his clothes and stuff.

- Sometimes naps on the couch in the living room and has the world's most insane startle reflex if anyone accidentally gets too close and wakes him up. Startled screaming and jumping a few feet in the air like a scared cat, yep. But he likes being around the sounds of people when napping. He got too used to a really noisy family.

- Seems to think all objects around the common areas are parts of the environment that he can use for things rather than things to be left alone. Like if it seems like something is decorative and not functional and he wants a shiny to add to his stuff or to use for a decorative knife handle he's making, he will just break it and use it though he'll clean up the mess so the avoxes don't have to. Other than ornamentation for funsies, like necklaces, he's not used to non-functional objects being something you need to keep permanent. He'd never break a pot that seems like it's meant for carrying things but if it's just standing there looking decorative and he wants a shiny piece of ceramic from it, he feels like there's no reason he can't break it and take the shiny. Environments are not static, they're something he feels he can scavenge from and manipulate and use to his liking. This is bad if you accidentally leave something out that's of value to you that he just ups and takes or breaks though he'd feel really bad afterward.

- Often watches really stupid Capitol movies to laugh at them and go "whaaaat" at all the stuff he doesn't understand. Other people are always welcome to join in. Occasionally he makes pillow and blanket forts while doing this.

- Sometimes tries to recreate small experiments with household objects when he's watching Junior Science Explorers videos on his little tablet trying to learn the basics of science. Mentos in a bottle of soda, that kind of things.

- Sometimes putters around the common room speaking English but with really weird drawn out syllables since he's trying to learn it so he can read. When he sounds normal, he's talking in his native language and it's just translating. When he's muttering "Heylo, my name es Guy. Whar cain I find da store? I wood leek to buy a jar of eggs," he's trying to work around the translation to learn English phrases so he can eventually read.

For the most part he's a sweetie. He's very courteous about not waking other people when they're sleeping, shares food if he gets treats for himself and always lets someone else have the last one, lets other people always pick what they watch on the teevee thing, even when he's watching a movie, since he's fascinated by most of it anyway and doesn't really have a preference, and generally tries to stop doing most things if he realizes they're annoying to someone.

Clementine would definitely join him for making fun of Capitol movies, she's an excellent riffing partner XD

[personal profile] acroodawakening 2014-06-18 06:38 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yes, I would love this. When he's in a better mental place for riffing, we could maybe toss them together to have fun with it!

I also think I might have him do am open movie night for as many people can cram in the common room where it'd just be a free for all of people mocking a movie that we all make up as we go.

I did it at another game and it was fun as heck.

Kevin

[personal profile] asmilinggod 2014-06-18 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
I am so sorry to everyone on the District 6 floor.

That's not enough? Oh. Well.

Kevin is very tidy...EXCEPT for the constant struggle to clean up after his blood and animal viscera. He barely sleeps at all, and tends to breeze in and out of the tower at weird hours with armfuls of paperwork. Who is the paperwork for? No one knows. What does it say? No one knows. Half the time it's blank anyway. It's a mystery, but he takes it very seriously and there are just PILES of papers everywhere.

He prays a lot! mostly outside, but sometimes you can find him pressed against a blank wall in the Tribute room - SQUISHING HIS FACE AGAINST THE WALL - and chanting in a monotone. Trying to talk to him while this is going on is pretty useless.

Like some other folks, he hoards food...but people don't really touch his stash of snacks, seeing as they are LIVE RODENTS. He keeps them in little cages made to stifle the sound of frantic squeaking, and occasionally he'll just yank one out and eat it alive. He does eat other, more normal foods, but his predilection towards meat is pretty apparent, and he doesn't seem choosy about how much it's cooked.

In the more mundane...he drinks waaaaaaaaaaay too much coffee, is unnecessarily sunny to people in passing, and is up much earlier than is at all necessary. He's happy with being approached when he's not praying...it's just...whether people want to approach him or not. He wears his suit ALL THE TIME. All. The. Time. He washes up a lot and keeps pretty clean (besides the blood), and spends about an hour each day brushing, flossing, and maintaining his teeth.

...I...think that is it for now?
