Cuddling is pretty much the bee's knees. You can do it in bed, while watching a movie, or pretty much anywhere else. You can forcibly cuddle someone. You can cuddle a pet. You can even cuddle while eating delicious food! So start cuddling.

[He could push her, or try to carry her out. However, he's not sure he wants to do that. For one thing, he's tired. For another, she has horns and teeth.

And finally, he'd feel bad.

He sighs. And scoots over, giving her room.]

...okay, fine, just -- just go to sleep, okay? We'll talk in the morning.

[She shuffles down into the blankets, making herself cozy. After a lengthy silence, she asks:]

...What do humans do when they can't sleep?

[...ugh. He opens one eye and gathers himself up enough to explain.]

Well, it depends. Some people drink warm milk, but really it's more of a placebo effect than anything else. Counting sheep is the most traditional thing humans do to try to get to sleep, but I've found the most effective method is to keep the troll from talking.

[Terezi is actually considering these measures until Carlos gets to the last one. She looks hurt for all of two seconds before she rolls it into a grumbling huffy look.]

...I thought you liked having me around. [She's not as unbothered as she's trying to make herself look.]

[...oh. Suddenly, Carlos is fighting the sleep off with a lot more effort.]

I -- I do.

[Did he actually hurt her feelings? He didn't mean to, but he has a feeling that bringing it up with an apology is only going to make things worse.]

I just wasn't expecting -- aagh. I'm sorry, it's just that people don't usually show up in my bed in the middle of the night.

I can go find someone else to stay with. [But she doesn't move just yet. She doesn't really want to.]

...You're sure? You aren't just saying that? [The only thing worse than wanting her to leave is pitying her enough to pretend that he doesn't.]

[He'll reach out and put an arm around her shoulders. It can be a quick hug or a cuddle, depending on how she reacts, but it's meant to be reassuring. Shhh.]

He's cuddling an alien. Not the weirdest thing that's happened to him, but still pretty weird.]

Sometimes. When I first got to Night Vale I had a lot of trouble sleeping, actually. Mysterious lights kept flashing across the sky, and sometimes I'd wake up with hooded figures watching me, and don't get me started on the tarantulas. They're not so bad on their own, but when they're in a gang and committing organized crime? It's hard to sleep through the noise.

But I got used to it eventually.
